FlashForward

Ok, Ok, I know we can't really talk about replacement shows just yet, but...

I want to know if people are watching FlashForward. And then I want to know what you think.

I can't decide how I feel about it! I'm intrigued, but it might be a little too much of an FBI drama...

and why do they keep calling Penny "Olivia"? And where's Charlie? I thought he was in this show?

And did anyone see the Oceanic billboard in the pilot episode?

Season 6 Episode 1: Title Revealed?

Coincidentally, it seems Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear might be Damon and Carlton's favorite blog too. It sure seems so, considering how much they're playing along, and perhaps even using it as a starting point for a weird kind of meta alternate reality game. Check the site for what could end up being more "clues" and check the video for what could be the title pf the first episode of season 6, a quick shot of a possible set design, and Mr. Cluck's Chicken cup.

the Constants LOST!

Hey everybody!

We have posted our entry for the Comic-Con main theme contest. If you don't know what that means, lemme explain.

The producers of Lost had a contest for the panel at Comic-Con. The challenge was to write an original song under 60 seconds for what you think would be the theme song to Lost if Lost had a theme song. If you won, then your entry would be played in front of the entire audience attending the Lost Comic-Con panel, with a mock title sequence.

somebody else one.

But now you can listen to our rejected entry! We basically took "Flashbacks", and butchered it to be under 60 seconds, in a true lazy Constants fashion. However, we took more time recording this than we took writing and recording all the other songs you have heard thus far. So listen and enjoy!

Damon, Carlton and A Polar Bear

My new favorite LOST blog is Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear if only because it's pretty much what Orange Peel Mouth would be if I took the time to do all the stuff I wanted to instead of just post in the comments of posts that Matt and Madeline write. To further prove I'm a terrible blogger, I only mention this blog because It's easier to just link to it than write a whole post and upload pictures and stuff. So, without further ado, check out Paul Scheer's post on what was written on Charlie's hand at Comic-Con.

Lost Re-Watch Weeks 1&2

The Lost re-watch has begun! It's been two weeks, starting with season 1. I had my concerns going in, "what if I can't keep up?". Well, it turns out that 4 episodes a week is almost not enough. The most challenging part so far is pacing myself! I find myself watching two episodes in a row and desperately trying to find a way to distract myself as to prevent myself from getting too far ahead of myself. If you haven't started yet, don't be afraid to start... I promise you'll catch up in no time!

With that said, here's a list of episodes watched so far:

1. Pilot part 1
2. Pilot part 2
3. Tabula Rasa
4. Walkabout
5. White Rabbit
6. House of the Rising Sun
7. The Moth
8. Confidence Man

You can't help but notice how scrawny half the dudes are in the pilot compared to later seasons, i.e. Sayiid. He actually bulks up a lil' by episode 3 even, but no where as near the end of season 3. Kate wears dude pants, and is not at her hot peak yet. Sawyer's hair is also dramatically shorter in the pilot as opposed to episode 3, and Sawyer is also one of the most fun characters, especially now that we've experienced his arc. This show has the BEST character development, and it's been extremely enjoyable thus far.
It's fun to watch and think about all the things that are taking place on other parts of the island as shit is going down in the foreground. Like what Ben is up, or any of the others in fact, since they are not featured in the first season. We know that Ben is ordering Ethan to infiltrate the camp, and make lists. Juliet is hosting a book club, and Desmond has just recently failed to push his button 'causing the plane crash (as we all know now as the very thing Jack hopes to prevent by nuking the pocket of energy in the swan station rendering it "inert" - Daniel Faraday R.I.P.)
These are the things that you consider, but try not to dwell on as some of the best Lost moments are happening right in front of you. I was yelling at the T.V. screen, demanding my Locke after 3 episodes with a lack of, when he shows up on screen with a suitcase full of knives and more confidence than you could shake a stick at. So fucking awesome. Speaking of, "Walkabout" is one of the best and heart braking episodes of the whole damn series. Locke introduces backgammon to Walt as "a game older than Jesus, with two sides: White, and black". At this time we are to suspect him as a creepy pedophile. Awesome. Fake-Matt wondered if Locke mistakenly calling Kate by the name of the girl he frequently calls on a hot-line (pre-island) is a jab at Evangeline Lilly's Hot Links past! Is it!? Awesome.
White Rabbit is where Lost gets all Losty. The dead starts showing up, Locke saves Jack! and tells him that he's looked into the eye of the island. Shit gets spooky. Remember when Lost was spooky?
The next few episodes are full of old Lost goodies: Charlie doing heroine, flashing back to Drive Shaft days. Sawyer being an asshole, getting tortured by Sayiid. Weird relationship between Micheal and Sun, Jin being a dick. It's all great. I could write forever on the awesomeness of season 1. But I have to stop here, due to my other "life". I'll leave you with this question:

Is season 1 so refreshing, so awesome, so good... because season 5 was so bad?

Sightings!

Wonderful readers (okay, two of my friends) have been writing in with their LOST character sightings. Above you'll see Hurley & his long board at 10th & L. (photo courtesy of Alan LaGuardia's iPhone)
Also spotted:
Anthony Cooper: yesterday at 9th & L... apparently too fast to get a photo
John Locke: today Rite Aid on K St. Wearing Army pants and a white t-shirt. "He'd'a shivved me if I photo'd him though"
I, personally, have seen Kate (she works in my office) and Jin (he was walking down J St!).
If you spot 'em let us know! Take a photo!
Addendum: the original (and ultimate) sighting was Ethan Rom at the Rubicon. This was no ordinary sighting, as Ethan was casually placing himself at various tables... pretending to be a part of those parties. He was clearly identifying all the women, noting if they were pregnant or had babies. We were very fearful and kept shouting "he's an other! he's an other!" to ourselves.

Where to Go from Here?

Okay, so the season is over. We're going to try and still maintain the blog through the hiatus, but posting might be a little more ... infrequent. We'll just say it's not our ... primary objective...

No, but really. Here are some thoughts for a LOST blog pre-season 6.

- Scheduled re-watch. I, personally, am going to start rewatching from the middle of Season 2. However, it might be worth it to start from Season 1, if the final season is going to mirror it.

- LOST book club, featuring books that are on the show

- More LOST & Bothered, where were they whens and those types of posts.

- LOST in Sacramento. This would be a man-on-the-street photo type thing... basically asking people in Sac who look like LOST characters if we can take their photos and post them. We've had multiple Hurley sightings already!

What do you think? Is there anything you readers want? Does anyone care? Do you just want to talk about Rose & Bernard? Post Constants lyrics?

The Incident

Well, we know who Jacob is, sort of. Pretty exciting, I guess. We've seen the statue in all it's glory. Definitely Egyption, possibly Taweret? We see that Rose and Bernard are doing A-OK in the jungle, living on there own. I was stoked on that scene. We know that Jack loves Kate, and Juliette loves Sawyer, both so much they're willing to blow up an entire island. It seems Locke isn't really Locke (which explains his non-weenieness). And we got another ending of something blowing up. Which leaves season 6 open to pretty much anything at this point. I've got a few theories, but I'll save that for the comments. I guess the big question is if the hydrogen bomb prevented the incident, changing time, or did she just cause it to happen? What's the deal with Locke's body? Is Jacob really dead? What about Desmond? Did you notice that Juliette's flashback was the only one that Jacob wasn't in? And that Jacob physically touched everyone in their flash back? What's up with Ilana? Why is she all bandaged, and why did Jacob choose her? What is Lapidus a candidate for?

Questions & Answers: Follow the Leader

Alright, it's late, so let's just get down to business.

First question: how the hell does a submarine get to Michigan? We know that those fools ain't gettin' off so easy. But way to throw Kate in there to make things uncomfortable.

Answer: We now know more of Richard's role... he's an "advisor". But clearly he doesn't know all. How much does he know? Why doesn't he age?

Question: He sees them all die?! WTF? Please explain, RichyRich.

Answer: John Locke's purpose is to kill Jacob. And he's lying to Sun. Sadness Sun!

Alright so Chang knows the truth about the future (his questions to Hurley were great, I thought) and that Miles is his kid. You'd think he'd have more authority over Radzinsky and that jerk, Phil. Who is really in charge of Dharma?

So, what do we think... is the Incident just a result of the hydrogen bomb being set off (btw, who keeps a hydrogen bomb in a temple - he said to BURY it)? Also, is the temple directly below the Dharma village? Does that make sense? What the hell is Locke doing? Is Ben going to go along with it? So did Locke set this whole thing up? He, after all, is the one who had Richard tell himself that he had to die. Doesn't that seem circular or am I missing something?

The Variable

Another good episode (even if it was chock full of more annoying children). Faraday's relation to Eloise and Widmore are confirmed (making him Penny's half brother, at least). Jack and Sawyer are back to there feudin', though Sawyer isn't quite as big of a dick about it any more. I kind of miss that. It seemd they're building up to "the accident", where Chang will lose his arm and probably lead to some Dharma folks leaving the Island (including, as Biz said, lil' Miles). It's getting tougher and tougher to figure out who's "good" and "bad", Eloise Hawking sent her son back to the Island, knowing she would kill him. The question of whether or not you can change the past to affect the future is still a bit up in the air. At this point, I'm leaning towards no, though I've read some good arguments otherwise. What do you all think? And of course, we lost our dear Faraday. Will it be for good? I think so. I'm not saying we won't see more of him...but I think he did indeed die as a result of getting shot. Any thoughts on that?

More Press: Evangeline Lilly & Matthew Fox

Not nearly as exciting as the previous clips, but there's more LOST stars on late-night tv. Looks like we're gearing up for a season finale....

Here you can watch Matthew Fox on Letterman last night. He says (prepare yourself) the finale will have a big cliffhanger. What a shocker.

OMG, I was just telling a certain crumb of a friend that if I could meet any two actors from LOST it would be Michael Emerson (Ben) and Jorge Garcia (Hurley). We already saw Michael Emerson on Jimmy Fallon and today Jorge Garcia was on the Bonnie Hunt show! Who knew Bonnie Hunt had a talk show. Anyway, his interview is awesome. He says that since they don't film in LA, LOST has just become a "show that just me and my friends do out in the jungle".

Questions & Answers: Some Like It Hoth

I enjoyed this episode, but I'm a big fan of Miles. It was pretty much an Information episode, but I always like it when you get to see more of Dharma and the inner-workings.
I'm gonna guess that Dr. Chang made his wife and son leave the Island because he had gotten wind of the purge and wanted to save them. I'm assuming he didn't mention this to his wife, however.
Faraday is back! Who didn't love seeing his head pop out of that submarine? So, okay, Faraday has been in Ann Arbor... which means when he "took off" it was to go be a scientist. He's not with the Others, he didn't kill himself, etc etc.
So, Miles got a counter-offer to not go work for Widmore. And yeah, that guy in the van - Bram - was on flight 316 and is now holding a gun to Lapidus' head. He's the one who knows to ask "What lies in the shadow of the statue?". So, what do you think is in the shadow of the statue?
Also, anyone who doesn't like Hurley is a crumb.
Lastly, we now know that it's possible for you to exist twice in the same time. Miles and Baby Miles are both on the Island in 1977. "Maybe he'll let you hold baby you" was the best.
Important LOST news: there's no episode next week (it's a recap show, I guess) and then there's only FOUR episodes left. That's all we get.

Friday, April 10, 2009

Who would you want to call Mom or Dad?

The last two episodes have featured the parental stylings of both Ben and Kate. Ben and Kate have something in common: they like to steal other people's babies and raise them as their own. Amusing now, isn't it, that Ben harassed Kate with his "but he isn't your son" comment? So, who is the better "parent"?
Let's review some of the facts:
-Ben STEALS Alex, but saves her life by not killing her as Charles wanted
-Ben is a controlling father, wanting only the best for his child
-Ben let's Alex die, though he does seem to be remorseful and wants to seek revenge for her life (a true sign of fatherly love)
-Kate takes Aaron as her own only after Claire disappears
-Kate prefers to lie to everyone about being his mother, rather then find his true family
-Kate admits that she was pretty much using Aaron's love to deal with Sawyer leaving her
-Kate gives Aaron to his grandmother to go back to the Island (supposedly to find Claire)
So, who do you think is better at parenting? Let us know. You have a week!

Dead Is Dead.

Ugh. Comment. As of now, I'm not a fan of Dead is Dead.

UPDATE:
Okay, now that I've had some time to think about it, I'm ready to take a sturdier stand on the epsode. Note the "as of now" in the original post...I know I'm easily swayed. Reading what you have to say in the comments certainly helps get my thoughts in order. DB eloquently said pretty much exactly what I was thinking. The concepts in last night's episode (and much of this season) are great. I'll agree with The Armeniac - seeing inside the temple, with all the glyphs and everything, was totally awesome. But the smoke monster playing back all of Ben's bad deeds (in full color, no less?) That part felt more like a Chick tract than LOST. Alex telling him he has to follow Locke now? I feel like that was too convenient. There goes that interesting dynamic of two men both trying to take the lead. That whole scene was so campy and melodramatic. However, I'll also agree with Meg, that the writers may in fact no what they're doing, and Dead is Dead might end up being less lame in hindsight, once we have a bigger picture. I can also see looking back, when all is said and done, and feeling like this episode is the one that jumped the shark.

LOST in Headlines

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/03/lost-exclusiv-1.html

Questions & Answers: Whatever Happened, Happened

Okay, let's talk. The episode was ok. My main issue with it was that it was Kate-centric and man, do I hate Kate. You know what I also hate? Kate and Aaron. Blech. Who cares. There are so many other things I'd rather know then what happened to Aaron. Like where's Bernard and Rose? How will Walt fit in? What's Desmond doing? How is Sun gonna get to '77? What's Locke going to do? But noooooo. Kate and Aaron. And Kate, every mother loses a kid in a store. Once we lost Matthew at the Yuba-Sutter fair when he was 3. Turns out he was riding the carousel the whole time.

Anyway, Ben's not dead and if you're living in the past, you can't change the future. Also, Richard Alpert knew who Ben was already.

I thought the most interesting thing occurred when the rando Other said "Charles and Ellie might not be happy about this". In my house this led to a big discussion about how old Penny would be at that time. Was Penny born on the Island? Is Daniel Charles Widmore's son? Does that mean that Penny and Daniel are related? How does Ben get Charles off the island? Does Richard make Ben immortal? Is this why Ben and Charles can't kill each other? Because neither one can die?

And finally! Someone talks about time travel.

Thanks to Cody, for posting the placeholder.

Questions & Answers: Namaste

Yay! Young Vince - I mean - Ben! And baby Ethan! We're all back on the Island, which you know I love. We're also getting a better view of Dharma, which I also enjoy. Here's some questions & answers...
  • Does Sayid say "f--- this" and just teach Ben how to be a badass?
  • Is this the reason Ben already knows all about them? Because he met them as a child?
  • Did Faraday split and become a hostile? The only other theory I have is that he kills himself, which seems unlikely. Faraday and Alpert are BFFing right now.
  • Did anyone else think the plane crash looked really fake?
  • Why is Sun in present day time? What is Christian doing? How is Sun going to get to 1977? What is her "journey"?
  • When do new recruits stop arriving on the Island?
  • When is the purge again?
  • Did Ben making the landing strip/runway because he knew that they'd need it late?

So there's going to be a bit of a battle or something, right? Survivor against Survivor apparently. Let's pick teams! Who is with who? Will there be some sort of physical catfight between Juliette and Kate? Jack and Sawyer had words and it was a bit refreshing to hear Sawyer tell Jack off. Jack is so annoying, just offering a handshake. Get over yourself, dude. He's gonna mess something up soon enough. Kate will help.

Also, why is no one asking where everyone else is or what happened to them? I'd be like "tell me EVERYTHING" no matter what side I was on.

Psychic Power

In the absence of an episode this week, we don't have a whole lot to offer here at Orange Peel Mouth. However, in a random LOST convo, I had some thoughts...
Most of you probably don't know that I have a slight obsession with psychics. I've only had my palm read 3 times (with varying results - and I'm still trying to figure out which one of you bitches is talking about me behind my back!) but I've never had a full-on psychic reading (scary!). I'm really disappointed there aren't any real reviews of psychics on yelp.
Oh, LOST, right, right. So, I obviously loved the Claire goes to the psychic story line. I know, sooo season 1. But anyway, ole Richard Malkin, who like any psychic may or may not be a fraud, told Claire that she couldn't give up her baby and then changed her mind and said she MUST be on flight 815, where she would be adoptive parents in L.A.
What I'm curious about is if the psychic knew this was going to happen or if he felt that he could change destiny and make it happen. Why did he have to convince her, if she was destined to be on that flight? So, basically, is Faraday wrong - can you change the future? Maybe you just can't change it from the past?
Or are psychics just bunk?

Questions & Answers: La Fleur

First of all, I want to say that I love that this photo was labeled "Love After Love" by whoever labeled it.

Okay! I have to say, I think this has been my favorite episode of the season. I was trying to think of why that might be and I came to the conclusion that it was all on-island. We all needed to go back, right?

We all got a good glimpse of that statue. I even saw it again this morning on Heckasac. What the hell is it? I know you have some theories going in the comments - I've never seen Stargate, so I don't know what you're talking about.

1974! What a great year! We all have to part our hair straight down the center! How long will we stay here? How can this end, if the record has stopped and we're stuck on the wrong song?

Some more questions:

1) How are people having babies on the Island? When does this change?

2) Did Sawyer and Juliette move into her old place?

3) Why doesn't Richard age? Is he always, ahem, constant? What about his people, the Others/Hostiles - those guys who Sawyer and Juliette killed looked like they were from the 70s and before Richard was hanging out with the army people. Do the others age, but Richard doesn't?

4) How did Dharma establish itself on the Island? How did they establish a truce with the Others? What does that entail?

5) Does the baby that was born grow up to be someone significant?

6) How did smiller feel that the two stoner Dharma guys, with their special brownies, were named Phil & Jerry?

This blog is gonna get real boring, since there's no episode next week... but in TWO WEEKS we'll get to see how we're gonna integrate our survivors in with our new BFFs in Dharma.

Questions & Answers: The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham

Poor, poor John Locke. He's such a pawn in the game between Ben and Widmore, Kate points out his lack of love, Jack says probably the most hurtful thing ever to him, then he gets murdered by Ben. Maybe that's the sacrifice he had to make? Speaking of sacrifice, is anyone else noticing a lot of religious imagery and metaphors popping up? (Armeniac, I'm looking at you...) It's strange to think of Locke becoming a Christ figure, but I'm getting that impression more and more.

Some questions (as if you guys need them):

1. So is Widmore good or bad? Up untill this point I always took him as being more evil or just as evil as Ben, but now I'm starting to reconsider.

2. If it is Abaddon's job to "get people where they need to be", is he responsible for more people from 815 ending up on the Island? Or was John Locke the only one? Would the plane have went down if he wasn't on it?

3. Did Ben mean what he said to John before he killed him, or was he just saying what he needed to get the name of Eloise Hawking out of him? Is John a threat to Ben's place on the island?

4. What made the Oceanic 6 disappear on the plane, as opposed to everyone else who just crashed? Did Ben disappear or crash? His wounds would suggest he crashed, but I wouldn't put it past him to fake injuries in order to get what he wants.

5. Don't you think they're putting a little too much emphasis on Caesar? Do you fear they're going to bring in more new characters that we're supposed to care about?

6. The pilot and a woman left on the boat. Who was this woman, and where were they going?

Questions & Answers: 316

So, I suppose there were some actual answers last night. Mainly, how to get back to the island. Well, Jack, you were off to a good start back in the day, cuz, really, you do just have to get on a plane. Okay, Okay. It has to be the same as before (why?) and there has to be proxies or whatev.

Here's a question: Why is there all this proxy business. I mean, I kind of get the John Locke thing. But is Sayid a proxy for Kate? Because Kate is there. Is Kate drugged up for Charlie? Is Ben's broken arm replacing Locke's wheelchair? And Ben getting up to go to the bathroom is setting it off, because Bernard got up and went to the bathroom the last time? Why does the Island care?

Here are some questions:

1) Was there an actual plane crash? If so, where are the other people? They did find that Aija Airlines waterbottle on the beach... are people camping out?

2) Where is Sun & Sayid. Honestly, I think they're just pushing back the reunion of Sun & Jin to make it more of an "event". Please see my post on their dramatic relationship.

3) What is Mrs. Hawking's timeline? What does she do exactly? Why does she care?

4) What is in store for Desmond? I'm looking at your comments ... is Desmond going to go back to the island to kill Ben, in order to revenge Penny's death?

5) Who's beating up Ben? Can Ben go back to the Island? If they're in Dharma time and young Ben is there, can old Ben go back?

I'm now fairly certain that when Locke messed with the wheel it took everyone back to the period of time when Dharma ruled the Island. That's why we saw Faraday at the Orchid and Jin in a Dharma suit. All of those kids are integrating themselves into the Dharma group. One of them is going to spill the beans about the purge to Dr. Chang, because at some point he has said he knows it's going to happen. Also, this is the point of time that Charlotte is living on the Island as a little girl. She's going to meet Faraday (creepy man) and Jin is going to teach her Korean. Eventually, the Oceanic Five (does Aaron need to come back?) will be living as Dharma folks and will be killed in the purge by none other then Ben.

Lastly:

1) Where is Walt? I know, he's on a hot pockets commercial. Bring him back!

2) Where are Bernard & Rose? What have those crazy kids been up to?

3) How do we feel about Kate & Jack?

Questions & Answers: This Place is Death

Well, we finally have an answer to the question that has plagued us from season one: So how did Montand lose his arm? We also got to see Charlotte be creepy and die, the smoke monster rip trees out of the ground, Sun and Jin's cute Korean baby, and even more of the young, cute Rousseau.
Something that struck me was when Christian Shephard talks to John Locke near the frozen donkey wheel. When Locke doubts he will be able to round all the Oceanic 6 up to bring back to the island, Shephard says "I believe in you, John." Is that not what Locke wanted and needed to hear his entire life? It seems Locke's entire existence has been a series of shortcomings, bad luck, disappointments and discouragements, from everyone. Not even Ben has been so encouraging towards him. Not only that, but Christian is also being the loving father he never quite was to Jack. All that in one single line. Maybe I'm just reading too deeply into it, but I feel like that was one of the sweetest moments of LOST's entire run.
Here's some questions:
1. So who's crazy, Rousseau or the rest of her team? My bet is she's slightly saner than they are. What exactly happened when they were pulled into that Cerebus vent? Are they really "sick" or are they even the same people now?
2. Supposedly the smoke monster is a security system for the temple. Why does the temple need it? I'm assuming the temple is built over the well that contains the wheel, so is it just to keep people from messing with it that shouldn't, while allowing safe passage to those who can? Remember early on, Locke came face to face with Smoky and it didn't harm him...
3. Christian also scolds Locke for letting Ben turn the wheel. How would things have been different if John did it instead of Ben?
4. Now that Locke has turned the wheel, does that mean the intermittant time flashes will stop for those on the island? What time are they going to end up in? Could it be the early days of Dharma, when Charlotte is a little girl, living on the island?
5. Now we know that Eloise is Faraday's mother. Where does that leave Charlotte in relation to Daniel? Sister, half sister, daughter?
I'm seriously stoked to get up and see there's already a ton of comments on the episode from the night before. Sorry it takes me awhile to get my thoughts organzied to make an actual post.

LOST and Bothered.

Valentine's Day Edition!

Hey, that love holiday is this week, so let's talk about Sun & Jin, shall we?

We know they're HOT (I mean, look at them... you can also look at previous comments on this blog mentioning Sun in a bikini). But what makes the couple so irresistible?

Romance? Drama? Separation? Death? Life?

Sun & Jin are sooooo dramatic (or should we call it passionate?). In the course of 4-5 seasons they have:
  • found love in different social classes
  • he's worked as an assassin for her father
  • she cheated on him
  • she lost her wedding ring
  • she learned English and didn't tell him
  • they stopped talking, went away on rafts, reunited
  • thought he died but doesn't know he's alive
  • had his baby without him, yet in her delirious state called out his name and refused to have the baby alone
  • cried at his grave
  • lied about his death
  • ran to her as the boat was being blown up, but didn't reach her in time...

Now she's turning into quite a femme fatale (hot) and he's all dirty and sweaty on the beach (hot).

Questions & Answers: The Little Prince

Answer! Jin is Alive. At least after the freighter, he is.

Answer! Nosebleeds = time travel (which we all assumed, I know) but does not mean that Charlotte is preggo, which is a theory I heard floating about somewhere. But what's gonna happen to them all, since they're all getting nosebleeds? Someone has to die sooner or later. Will Sawyer die in an unrequited love way, just as Kate returns to the Island?

Question! Is everyone smarter than Jack? Really, of course Ben was behind the sneaky lawyer! Ben is going to trick you Jack.

Question! Who are the people from Aijra Airlines and what is their role? Who was on the beach when they attacked? What time period was that?

Question! Is Kate really all that maternal? Does she really care for Aaron, because I don't really buy it. Also, can they somehow get a different child actor? I really don't care about consistency.

Question! Why didn't they show Charlie or Jin at the birth of Aaron?

Question! Was Miles on the Island before? Who was the baby? Him or Charlotte?

Question! Does Rosseau remember Jin?

I'm starting to get annoyed with the off-Island "lets all get to the Island" stuff too now... it's like, as Al said, more jumping through hoops. Just do it already. Those people never deliberated so much when they were on the island. Damnit, go back already! It was interesting when they we didn't know where they were going to end up, but now we do, so... boooring.

Also, this is posted by Madeline, not Cody. If anyone knows how to change that, please let us know.

He's Alive!

Matthew was going to post this, but unfortunately he is really busy analyzing a YouTube clip that claims the black smoke monster was in the pilot episode. He should emerge from his room in 3-4 days with the results.

Speaking of results... According to Orange Peel Mouth readers, Jin did NOT die as a result of the freighter explosion! 58% of voters (that's 17 virtual people!) believe Jin did not die. 41% (12) disagree.

Will we see Jin again? Probably. Will he be alive? Who the hell knows. Will Jin advance Sun's storyline (or has it already!?)? Will his non-death explain the continuum? Was ALnonymous waving the jackass flag as Matthew claimed? (like all civil wars, this battle was brother against brother)

Maybe the answers will be revealed tonight!

Jughead

Geez, I better start posting as soon as the show is over. Now there's comments pertaining to last night's episode, "Jughead" in a post about Josh Holloway being to sexy. While last night's episode may have had a little to do with Sawyer being sexy (it depends who you ask, I guess)it had more to do with Faraday manning-up and Desmond returning looking for Faraday's mother. And as usual, some minds were blown in the process. Who would've that that Gramponymous Maxwell was right when he said "The dude in the army outfit with the name "Joseph" who wanted to cut off Juliet's hand is a Widmore." Sounds like an off-handed joke gone eerily right, to me. Here's what I wanna know:

1. How did Widmore rise to so much power? He appears to be a lowly grunt as of 1954. Does he betray Alpert and the Others to try and use the Island for evil instead of good? Was he banished to the mainland or did he leave voluntarily?

2. Who was Theresa, the girl in a coma? I'm guessing it wasn't actually a coma, but she's stuck shifting between time much like Minkowski. Was she just a random test subject, or did she have some sort of relationship with Faraday? Did she volunteer for the experiments?

3. I still want to know who Faraday's mother is. I think many of us assume it's Ms. Hawkings. If that's the case, is her super-secret math and magnetic labratory in L.A.? Seems weird to me, but I guess there's no real reason to think otherwise.

Any other thoughts, theories or questions?

Jin: Dead or Alive?

There seems to be a division amongst our growing readership. There are those that think Jin, husband of Sun, father of Ji Yeon, is dead and then there are those who think he somehow survived the explosion of the freighter, managed not to drown, and is alive and well somewhere? Now, simply asking the question "is Jin dead?" is a bad idea. Christian Shepard, Charlie and Ana Lucia are all "dead," yet they've all been seen either on or off of the Island. So, I am going to be a little more specific. Did Jin die as a result of the explosion of the freighter? Poll to the top right, leave your reasons in the comments!

Questions & Answers: Because You Left and The Lie

Wow. What a season premiere! It may be too soon to say this, and my view may be skewed since we made such an event of it, but I dare to say that was the best season opener yet! As you can see from the evidence below, we had a nice turnout for the Orange Peel Mouth Premiere party. Everyone followed the "no talking" rule quite nicely, so it goes without saying that by the end of the night we all had a billion questions and theories running through our heads. So let's talk about them. I'll try and get things started with some that I thought of or heard other people talking about. Please add your theories or your own questions to the comments! (And yes, if you haven't seen the new episodes, there are spoilers here. Duh.)

1. Do you think the Faraday who was working on the Orchid station in the opening sequence was the Faraday we know and love who somehow ended up in the past, or do you think at that point he had not traveled through time yet? (That is a hard question to phrase, hopefully you all get what I'm asking.)

2. Do you think Sun's intentions towards Widmore are good or bad? How about Kate? She seems a bit spiteful doesn't she?

3. Did you notice that when Faraday asks if all of the crash survivors are accounted for, Sawyers says that Locke is not, but doesn't mention Claire. Where is she in all of this?

4. Why does Sawyer want a shirt so badly, but doesn't seem to care about his lack of footwear?

5. Miles is Pierre Chang's baby: a possibility or just a racist assumption? Was the baby born on the island? If so, could the unleashed energy be the thing that's messing up all the baby-mamas?

6. What's with the people shooting the flaming arrows at the camp? Don't you think it's weird that they're shooing flaming arrows? The the dude in the jungle has a gun. Was he with Dharma, or maybe someone else? Are the arrow shooters and the gun dudes one in the same?

7. Do you think Ana Lucia pulling Hurley over was an intentional nod to her drunk driving arrest? Wouldn't have been funnier if Jin and Libby were in the back seat? (Though she did say "Libby says hi.")

8. Why is Charlotte the only one with a nosebleed? If they're all traveling, shouldn't they all be getting sick?

9. Ms. Hawkings. Good or bad? Could she be Faradays mother (time travel experts all look alike)? How does Ben get to her so fast?

10. How are the Constants so good?

By the way, I know at the inception of this blog I said that there would be episode recaps, but I'm realizing that it's A.) really hard and B.) pointless, since Lostpedia does a great job of summing everything up. Got a problem with that? Save it for the comments!

If You Weren't There, You Can Still Look at the Photos (Updated! Now with more Chad in Bald Cap!)

So, as expected, the LOST premiere kicked Jonathan Richman's ass (see photographic evidence below). The premiere party was excellent! There were pins! John Locke showed up! The Constants played!
There was great food, provided by Dharma:

Including fish biscuits!
Polar bear and palm tree cupcakes.

The Constants:

The Rules:

Seating was pretty crowded, but some "people" looked pretty comfortable...

More posts later on the actual episode and what it all means.......
