Fantasy Lost: LAX

There have been some questions about the Fantasy Lost game. You'll see a poll to vote on how to count John Locke. In the comments, there are some thoughts on what is a minor character and what's not.

Here's some other things to consider:
It is up to you to calculate your points. You can post your total points in the comments of this post, and we'll track the season for you. But you have to watch for your characters, because it's impossible for us to track what 60 characters do. I'm personally only keeping track of Kate, Hurley, Libby and Anthony Cooper. If you submitted your teams in the post below or to Cody, you'll be included on the spreadsheet, coming soon (hey, this girl's gotta a real job to contend with first).

That being said, when you calculate your points, just know that when things come up, others might question you -- it's up to you to present your theories and craft your arguments and make your case. Isn't the fun in the discussion?

Also, I want to say a big thanks to Cody, OPM contributor of the week, for hosting last night, as well as creating the Fantasy Lost game. Thanks Codering! Also, thanks for posting this place holder!!!

theories-

Christian Shepard's body in coffin not on plane because he doesn't exist in that reality.

Sayyid able to come back to life because his religion believes in re-incarnation (I think) and the island has the power to make what you believe true, therefore when since John Locke had always believed in himself he will come back and be more powerful than fake ass Locke and smote his ass.

Real Locke smiting fake Locke should be worth 10 million Lost fantasy points. I've got this thing sewn up.

For those of you who need the actions and their points, I updated the post below. Bring on the debates!

Episode One: LAX
My relevant characters (for madewell's spreadsheet)

Boone - 45 points
Charlie (Pace) - 45 points

Matt (I think that's lil' maxwell right?) you're thinking of Hinduism w/reincarnation. Islam only believes in an afterlife. So was it pretty safe to say that was some kind of fountain of youth?

I agree with your theories. Of course, my theory is that Christian IS Jack, which could fit in to that.. I can see them pulling a Jesus-type resurrection with Locke. Should be cool.

lil' maxwell said...

my theory wasn't sound from the get go, because I believe a big part of reincarnation is being born into something new/else. It looked like regular ol' Sayyid.

I want the fantasy league to total the points for me, what am I not paying OPM for anyway?

Cody said...

what were we talking about last night that i said i would post a poll about? was it if John Locke inhabited by someone else still counts as John Locke?

i also just really wanted to type something cause the word verification is "codring".

Theory: The ash is from the burnt bodies of the past Jacobs.

nortagemdar said...

Cody - yeah, that's what the poll question should address so when Locke inhabits Sayid's body next week we know who gets the points for his actions.

lil' maxwell said...

maybe codring is what they call the rings of ash they put around themselves to protect themselves from the smoke monster. Like this, "quick! form your codrings!"

I'm pretty sure what they did to Sayyid is what they did to young Ben when Sayyid shot him, right? Karma.

Also, I had this theory before from rewatching season 5 and last night expanded on it for me. I think the smoke monster can mimic dead people, but not inhabit the bodies. I think Jacob can actually bring bodies back to life. Christian is one of Jacob's people because he is wearing white shoes, and Locke represents the smoke monster with his black shoes.

I'm assuming that fake Locke was burning the bodies of Jacob's army to prevent them from being ressurected. He can't burn Locke's body though, because he is using it.

Oh and Cody, there were several debates. Like, what constitutes a minor character? I say Bram is a minor character, those other dudes that died were extras.

p.s. Jacob let's you keep your soul.

My thoughts on the Major/Minor characters wre different from everybody else. I guess I should've been more specific and broken it down further. What I meant by killing a major character was killing anyone who's involved in a plot point, from Jack Shephard down to Frogurt. Minor characters were meant to be all those nameless redshirts/background dharma folks/others who get killed, cause let's face it, that's one of the best things ever. Remember the shootout at the barracks when like 6 no names got killed in 10 seconds? If you guys want I can post a poll for this one too, cause I really don't like calling all the shots. I just think this way allows for more points to be earned. I think once we get all these ironed out I'll do a post to link to on the side bar that has descriptions of all the actions and what counts and what doesn't.

Rad, Cody. Good work.

Did anyone choose Hurley for their team? Did him seeing Jacob count as an island vision or as an encounter with Jacob? Or both? Or did no one pick him and it doesn't matter?

madewell said...

I picked Hurley and I counted it as both.

Matt Jacobson (formerly Ultimate Matt) said...

I'm betting Sayid is the new Jacob; i.e., filling that role on the island. Just a random hunch.

Also: DHARMA SHARK, MOFO!

Cody said...

Dharma shark was sweet!

Yeah, I'd say Hurley's encounter counts as both. Really I want to be as liberal with points as possible, just not past the point of ridiculous. Like Juliet being "laid to rest" doesn't count as Juliet getting laid. I would count Jack giving Sayid mouth to mouth as kissing though. Am I just totally contradicting myself? I'm a bad ref.

nortagemdar said...

Wait, wait. Mouth to mouth does NOT count as kissing unless someone pulls a Wendy Peffercorn.

lil' maxwell said...

I'm satisfied with your reasoning on minor characters, Cody.

Eryn said...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I only got this many points for these characters:

Richard - 5
Claire - 5
Lapidus - 5
Zeke - 0

(Ellen's team):
Sun - 5
Christian - 0
Eloise - 0
Ray - 0

Are we counting the alternate reality (the flight making it to LAX) as a flashback/different age? I don't see how other people got such high points? Not that I'm knit-picking, I just need clarification

Cody said...

At this point I'm saying the "flash-sideways" don't count as flash back or flash forwards, but I have a feeling a lot of people will debate me on that. Definitely not different age. By that I meant played by a kid or wearing a funny wig or having that hip haircut Ben had when he stole Alex from Danielle. Sucks for you suckers who chose Richard Alpert!

crystal said...

ATTENTION ALL: the producers of the show confirmed that neither flashbacks nor flashforwards would be included in this final season.

SO, the question now is, which actions should take the place of these two on the fantasy lost game??

really awesome theories/analysis on key issues here. read up.

nortagemdar said...

I'm in agreement with you, Kodiak. Until proven/revealed otherwise I think we should treat those on the plane as co-existing with those on island.

Eryn - I don't know about anyone else's points but I got a lot 'cause all my people are dead. So if they even show up I get an automatic 45 points. But don't worry - we're in it for the season so having few points after one episode ain't nothin' but a thang.

Eryn said...

here's a question - is Claire dead? Or is she "unconfirmed" or ???

Cody said...

Me and Dylan talked about this last night. Even thought everyone is pretty sure she's dead, she's still not really CONFIRMED. If she is confirmed dead the points will take effect retroactively, so keep track!

epimentel said...

Hah no problem. Again, I'm more just trying to clarify these things for myself. Dumb Claire.

Cody said...

I picked Claire too, so I feel your pain.
