Namaste, welcome to ORANGE PEEL MOUTH

Thank you Cody. First of all I'd like to say that I am very honored to be apart of this blog. The best part of lost is indeed talking about it with your friends, whether it's at the Tower or it's on your front porch, chain smoking immediately after the latest episode has aired. So let's go ahead and get started. Let's get right into it and cut all of the bullshit. Let's talk Walt and Locke.

The season 3 finale is definitely my favorite so far. Season 1 and 2 finale's both had me crying for more, with little to no idea what would happen next, however it was Season 3's finale that had left me in total awe and with more anticipation than any of the others. I don't want to knock season 4's finale, I still have no clue what's up, but season 3 will always be dear to my heart. It was the half way point in the season 3 finale that did me in. When John Locke is about to pull the trigger, take his own life, and then Walt appears.

So, this is where most of my intrigue lies. In season 1 we know that John Locke is not dead at the end of the finale. He has just started to embark on his journey, and we all can get that when he is peering down into what seemed to be an endless hole of what we now know to be the "hatch". The season 2 finale is where we first question the fate of John Locke. Even though most of us probably just assumed he was alright, and had survived the explosion, we still had no idea as to the fate of Locke. What was going to happen next?

That brings me back to season 3. John Locke in a pit of skeletons, about to pull the trigger... and then Walt appears. What does Walt say? "Don't John, you have work to do." Well, it seems Locke spent all of season 4 trying to figure out what that meant, and us (the audience) are also trying to figure that out. What work did John Lock have to do? Was it just to move the island? Or lead the others after it was moved? If you ask me, we haven't see what John had to do, and he has not finished what he set out to accomplish. But... hes dead. In the season 4 finale we see him dead. Is Locke really dead, and did he finish the "work" he was meant to do? What does anyone else think?

I think what's interesting to point out is that it's Walt who has to appear to people. Much like Walt appeared to Shannon with his creepy, dripping wet "shhh". Why was it Walt who could convince Locke to get up out of that ditch? Why does Walt reach out to people? What is Walt's role? How is Walt chosen?

I've never really thought of this before, and maybe Madeline was kind of hinting at it, but there seems to be some connection between Walt and death. In season 2, Shannon sees Walt, dripping wet, when she's looking for vincent. Four days later, in an attempt to prove she saw Walt she goes in search of him. And what happens? She gets shot. She went looking for Walt, she found death. John Locke, wanting to end it all, is about to take his own life. Until Walt shows up and tells him it's not time. Walt basically prevents Locke's death. Michael is seeking his son back in "the real world" but is not allowed to see him. He also seeks death, but is never successful in finding it. Walt confirms that Locke came looking for him, under the alias Jeremy Bentham. In the same episode (I think) we see Locke lying in the casket. I'm probably not treading new ground here, and I won't go as far as saying Walt is any kind of Grim Reaper-like Death Incarnate. But we already know Walt has powers that we probably don't fully understand. Do you think it's possible that Walt is using his psychic abilities, combined with his placement in time outside of the Island's, to attempt to reach out to those facing death? That doesn't quite explain the "can't see Walt, can't die" theory I applied to Michael, but it's iteresting to me nonetheless.

Didn't Walt kill a bird with his MIND in season 1?

He did, and in one of the "Lost" webisodes, we see a pile of dead birds outside of the room where The Others are keeping him. They also talk about how everyone is afraid to go near Walt.

There's also that black cloak he wears and the scythe he's always carrying, but that's probably just a fashion choice.

Can we start a thread on who would win in a fight between Jack Shepherd and Jack Bauer?

Yes. As long as no one brings Heroes into this.

Uh, you had me.....til the Heroes comment, then you lost me.

Just so there's no misunderstanding, I was just joking about Heroes. Both are fine shows and there's really no need to compare one to the other. That's my official statement.
