Recon

He was a southern orphan hell-bent on revenge. He was a smart-ass up and comer with a secret life as a ghostbuster. Together, they're Sawyer and Straum: LAPD. So that was pretty cool, right? There's got to be something else interesting to talk about from last night's episode. Oh yeah! The preview for the Alpert episode next week! Looks good! Don't let me down, LOST!

Aw man. I really wanted that to be Charlie at the end runnin' from the cops but it was just Kate. Physically there's almost no difference. But I'm in it for the points not the boy bod. Soclose! Sawyer without a shirt = yes, please. That episode was more than I'd dared to hope for. I really thought Juliette was going to show up and was very relieved when she didn't. But that was short lived because then, wham, there's Charlotte instead. When Jin and Sun finally get back together I'm going to sing (in my head) "reunited and it feels so good!"

goodnight. :)

seems like it was heavy with the Charlie tease.

Everyone seems to be a hater on every single episode, I simply don't understand it. Did you NOT see Smocke slap Claire? Hello! She's like the second most annoying person on that show and he SLAPPED her! And she didn't even have to annoyingly scream, "MY BABAY," for him to do it! Come on, what more could you ask for? Did you not see Sawyer put a necklace badge on while shirtless? Did you not see Liam in the police station? Did you not see A Wrinkle In Time on Ford's dresser? Did you not wonder if, after watching Little House on the Prarie, what Ford was doing could be considered drunk driving and should maybe get a ticket? Or also how he knew where Charlotte lived after just one date? What about the fact that Sayid was going to let Kate get stabbed in the neck by a big ol' knife (sure, not Croc. Dundee big, but pretty big, nonetheless!)! And how is Charlotte exactly like Indiana Jones, do you think that means she has a, you know, an 'idol' in her pocket? She said "exactly," folks!

In summation: I love this show. Maybe if you are disappointed episode after episode, season after season, you should maybe try to see the forest for the trees. Talking about how a different hypothetical future pasture may be greener keeps you from enjoying the beautiful meadow in front of you.

Somethin.

i haven't seen anything negative about the episode written yet... where's this coming from nortagemdar?

that being said, the episode was better than the first 5 or 6 or whatever, but it was still just alright.

Dylan Thomas B. said...

It's not that there are negative things specifically written. It's just that sometimes, there's a bit of a "blah" attitude. You know. Like, "Cool. LOST. Whatevs." But yeah, I like Nortagemdar's style. LOST!!! YEAH!!!

I consider, "There's got to be something interesting to talk about from last night's episode. Oh yeah! The preview for the Alpert episode next week!" to be a relatively negative review. Or at the very least a lazy one that was posted way late into the day and only ended up being a paragraph (*cough*cody*cough*). And then there are the various neighsayers over the span of this season (some of whom went into this season saying, "hope it's better than last season" etc.) who seem to be so-so on practically every episode. I mean, sure, I get that not every episode is the best mind-blowing, better than any previous episode ever and, further, I get that we all have differing opinions. But they're all diamonds compared to the stale pieces of poop that comprise any other program currently on tv. And if you go into it saying, "hope it's better than x," then that's nothing more putting up an unreachable bar.

Portland is always going to have Voodoo Donuts, people. Doesn't mean Sacramento is lacking in its own wonderful things to offer.

Wait... what were we talking about?

=P

Also, I just really like when Sawyer has no shirt on.

"Or at the very least a lazy one that was posted way late into the day and only ended up being a paragraph"

That really kind of says it all. Problem is, it's tough to post a well thought-out entry when it has to be done during a half-hour lunch, especially when there's green cupcakes and brownies to be eaten, and an image to be expertly photoshopped. But yeah, I totally liked last night's episode! Locke slapping Claire was totally awesome! Charlie's brother, sober and showing up at the police station to pick up little Chuck? Awesome. Sawyer bedding two girls in one episode? Kinda gross. But whatevs. The last 3 episodes have been solid first season throw-back, which i love. Don't take my lack of enthusiasm in my posts as me not liking it though. I should start taking notes while I watch to make for more complete summaries. The whole idea of this blog was for it to be a place to talk LOST with all my pals, and I've often thought of how I should've just made it a message board. But for some reason I feel like people wouldn't respond the same way. Anyways, I get where you're coming from Norty, because I've often felt the same way over the last 5 years. There's been so much doubt cast on the show and I'm (usually) the first one to stick up for it and say "let's just see what happens." Maybe my point of view has been slightly different this season because the curtain's coming down and I'm afraid I may be proven wrong. But I still have faith! I've been a man of faith from day one!

Ans hey, Voodoo donuts aren't the only thing that make Portland great. They have other things with bacon on them that are just as appealing. Just sayin'!

PS. I wasn't fooled by the Charlie Tease for a second. I called it as Kate right before she was girl-running through that puddle with arms all a'flappin'.

Also: I'm stoked someone actually wrote an opinionated piece in the comments section, cause that shit has been lacking this season! More opinions! More theories! More jokes!

nortagemdar said...

Wait... Do they put bacon on their dancers up in Portland? Gross (and by 'gross' I, of course, mean delicious)!

And yes, Kodiak, that was a very remarkable photoshop (a.k.a. mspaint) job you did. I'm sorry, I forgot that not everyone can get away with using their iPhone at work for obsessing over LOST the day after a new episode.

Seriously, though - why was there a big long pause after Charlotte said she was exactly like Indiana? Am I missing something obvious or was that just their clever way of talking about a whip in the bedroom? Just seemed like a really long pause with her on screen with her big ol' blank stare.

She meant she was exactly the same as the aliens from "Crystal Skull".

So she had all the 'knowlegde' Sawyer could ever want.

LOST's not what alot of people want it to be, but it is what it is. I think people want to get there minds blown like in seasons1-3, but that ain't gonna happen. Even the greatest expanation for all the mysteries are just gonna be explanations not mind blowers. In the language of Oswald Spengler, seasons 1-3 were LOST becoming, the rest is LOST become, or being, which just isn't as mind blowing.

DB - That strap separation phenomenon you're talking about is what is often referred to as 'mitosis.' By calling it that in public you may verbally point it out to a friend without anyone else being unduly offended.

Cody said...

First motor-boatin, now mitosis! See, this LOST blog is good for something!

I think it's really funny that we are now theorizing about disliking LOST instead of anything that is actually happening.

In Cody's defense, it's pretty hard to write a decent blog post - I try to write the night of the ep and usually my thoughts aren't totally together. And this blog is for the discussion anyway, as he already said.

But I think there's some fun in being pissed off. LOST is a show that always has someone upset or annoyed. I clearly remember an acquaintance in New York screaming "I WANT SOME ANSWERS" at a LOST party circa season 3. So, that's part of the experience.

As for yesterday's episode - I was a little bored. I wanted Charlotte to get a nosebleed. I tried to remember who Jacob and Esau's mother was (Rebecca - you should really look that shit up on wikipedia, because it's mad interesting) and just seeing a preview about Richard Alpert made me so stoked for next week that I forgot about anything that had just happened.

I'd like someone to rewrite the song Uncle Albert to be Richard Alpert. Please?

I think this season has been rough because of its format - the island and the alternate reality, as opposed to the island and past.

What made the breaking up of the main storyline interesting was seeing characters' pasts, seeing what shaped them into who they are on the island.

The alternate reality, while somewhat entertaining, I am completely disinterested in as far as I'm concerned for this show. The Sawyer in the alternate reality isn't the Sawyer from this show, and neither are any of the other characters that they've shown in the alternate reality. I really just do not care about the alternate reality, and it is seeming rather pointless, and one big lame excuse to bring back characters that have been killed off in cheap attempts to make everyone nostalgic.

I'm hoping there will be a very, very good reason why they have approached this season in this way, but I'm not very optimistic (obviously). I just feel like what I liked about the show isn't there anymore, and the writers are just dragging things out until they can assemble everything in the last 2 or 3 episodes.

That's my rant!

nortagemdar said...

I like the way Kodiak put it, "I've been a man of faith since day one." i think there's some kind of master plan and that there are still plenty of mind bjs to be had.

The Armeniac said...

Mind BJ's!!! Brilliant! Is that like how mitosis gives me a mind boner?

Can someone refresh my memory regarding the Ajira crash. When Sun, Ben, Ilana, etc. left to take Locke's body to the temple did they leave all those people behind who eventually got massacred? Or did they land in two different spots?

Anonymous said...

I'm pretty sure they landed in one spot, so I think they left them behind. The boat could only hold so many people, and a big crate full of Locke-corpse. Which in retrospect, was a ridiculous thing to tote around.

I think that the comment about Charlotte being just like Indiana Jones was to illustrate that she is in fact a shitty archaeologist, just like Jones. Also all those nose bleeds from last season may have in fact been from mind boners. Think about it.
