Dr. Linus

Poor, sad, lonely Ben. But he didn't die.... no, no, no. And he didn't become principal either.

I'm happy there was a Ben-centric episode and I really think that his sideways story was just meant to remind you that you kinda liked him OK. And that he's not so much of a terrible person for letting Alex die, cuz, see, he just got her into Yale! He did the right thing this time! Only, it's college, not life and isn't it creepy when some History teacher takes a special liking to a female student? I guess it's creepy when some guy steals a baby and raises it on its own too, so whatever.

Speaking of death - the candidates can't kill themselves. Wouldn't the Candidates be a good rival band for the Constants? Just sayin'. So, Richard hasn't been able to die and that's why he hasn't aged? Will the other Candidates (the 815 survivors) not age too? I don't get some of this, but frankly, I haven't put much effort into trying to figure it out.

That leads me to the poll. That's right, we've got a poll. The show is wrapping up - every preview is supposed to pump you up for the big giant finale. But is anyone just over it?

Oh, and a moment for Jack. Finally, Jack seemed to do something right. It was so nice to go back to classic Lost. We're on the beach, there's scary things out there, we're camping out and moving in slow motion to classic LOST music.

Oh, and Widmore is on a submarine. What do you all think about that?! When does Desmond come back!

Speak to us, people. Let us know if you're over it. And if you're not, comment away.

Ben's Your Parent of Choice

As much as Cody hates to admit it, Ben is a better parent then Kate. Well, at least that's what the readers of OPM have said. 55% (22) think Ben is a better parent. 45% (18) would rather have Kate lose you in a grocery store.

Thanks for voting!

Who would you want to call Mom or Dad?

The last two episodes have featured the parental stylings of both Ben and Kate. Ben and Kate have something in common: they like to steal other people's babies and raise them as their own. Amusing now, isn't it, that Ben harassed Kate with his "but he isn't your son" comment? So, who is the better "parent"?
Let's review some of the facts:
-Ben STEALS Alex, but saves her life by not killing her as Charles wanted
-Ben is a controlling father, wanting only the best for his child
-Ben let's Alex die, though he does seem to be remorseful and wants to seek revenge for her life (a true sign of fatherly love)
-Kate takes Aaron as her own only after Claire disappears
-Kate prefers to lie to everyone about being his mother, rather then find his true family
-Kate admits that she was pretty much using Aaron's love to deal with Sawyer leaving her
-Kate gives Aaron to his grandmother to go back to the Island (supposedly to find Claire)
So, who do you think is better at parenting? Let us know. You have a week!

LOST and Bothered.

It's a New Year. At the start of anything new, you should always be thankful for the good things in life. Like all the characters on LOST who are HOT. I think '09 is really going to be Ben's year, so who better to appreciate?

Ben is a man of power. Who doesn't love that (unless he's trying to kill or manipulate you?)? I'm going out on a limb here to say that Ben definitely has some hotness to him, but it might just be best to admire it from a distance.

Fun Ben facts:

  • he kills both his parents (technically he kills his mom by being born) on his birthday
  • he has multiple names/passports including Henry Gale and Dean Moriarty
  • he was born in Portland!
  • young Ben looks like Vince
  • the actor who plays Ben, Michael Emerson, gets his haircut at the same place as J.Cremer in Manhattan

I think what makes Ben so great is that he's such an interesting character. He's constantly playing mind games, beating people up, befriending them, saying things you think have hidden meaning, the list goes on. He's a self-made man! He's super smart! He totally makes the show most of the time. And he creeps me out! Nothing hotter than that.

Pack & Shave

I'm terribly sorry I haven't been posting much and thanks to the Maxwells for keeping the dream alive. I've been learning the dark and archaic art of microfilm and microfiche. I'm not sure why that affects my posting, since I would never do anything extracuricular on the Man's dime, but somehow it does. Over the next couple of days I'll try and make up for lost time.

I know I'm a few days behind on this, but I guess if you wanted your LOST news in a timely manner you probably wouldn't come here for it. ABC put up a new sneak peak into season five. This time we have shaving Jack talking to packing Ben. I guess I'll warn you that it's kind of a spoiler, if you consider seeing a scene from the show out of context a spoiler.
UPDATE: The YouTube video wasn't being displayed right, so you might have to sit through a commercial and watch the official ABC version. It looks better anyways.

Any thoughts? Is Ben telling the truth about the last time he saw Locke? Is he ever telling the truth? Why is he packing a suit and tie? Do you think ABC is going to show a clip of how each of the Oceanic 6 are convinced to go back to the island?
