Questions & Answers: Whatever Happened, Happened
Okay, let's talk. The episode was ok. My main issue with it was that it was Kate-centric and man, do I hate Kate. You know what I also hate? Kate and Aaron. Blech. Who cares. There are so many other things I'd rather know then what happened to Aaron. Like where's Bernard and Rose? How will Walt fit in? What's Desmond doing? How is Sun gonna get to '77? What's Locke going to do? But noooooo. Kate and Aaron. And Kate, every mother loses a kid in a store. Once we lost Matthew at the Yuba-Sutter fair when he was 3. Turns out he was riding the carousel the whole time.
Anyway, Ben's not dead and if you're living in the past, you can't change the future. Also, Richard Alpert knew who Ben was already.
I thought the most interesting thing occurred when the rando Other said "Charles and Ellie might not be happy about this". In my house this led to a big discussion about how old Penny would be at that time. Was Penny born on the Island? Is Daniel Charles Widmore's son? Does that mean that Penny and Daniel are related? How does Ben get Charles off the island? Does Richard make Ben immortal? Is this why Ben and Charles can't kill each other? Because neither one can die?
And finally! Someone talks about time travel.
Thanks to Cody, for posting the placeholder.

Sayid would totally kill Hitler as a baby. We need to stick that dude in an ultra-violent, grindhouse version of Quantum Leap. I'd watch that show.
Richard Alpert will save young Ben's life by harnessing the awesome powers of RA, THE SUN GOD!
I love whipped Jack. He needed to come back to become Jacob, hot dammit.
The others are vampires!! Nah, JK...But do any of the other Others not age, or is it just Alpert? Obviously Ellie and Charles do...
I loved the time travel convo between Miles and Hurls. So Ben probably does remember Sayid. Charlotte remembered Daniel.
When does Ethan become an Other? Maybe he was stolen as a baby?
Is Clair not dead?

P.S. I thought this was a good episode, even with all the "off-island" bits. By the way, I liked Juliette's use of that phrase: " Did something happen between you and Jack off-island?"
Total filler episode, classic mid-season LOST. little bit of exitement a whole lotta talkin. I'm glad Jack finaly grew a pair.
We should all start doing things " off island". Man, I played this killer solo last night, it was soooo off island dude!
I think that Ben talks to Ethan pre-purge and Ethan is one of those Dharma peeps who wears a mask and knows the purge is happening and then is a total Other post-purge. In other words, he's a traitor.
The only thing that really bothers me (aside from Richard's ultra-convenient "oh yeah, and he won't remember any of this") is that they've basically returned the show back to its original structure. They sped up the "return to island" plot so that they could do flashbacks to the middle three years - present day plot, flashback background, just like seasons 1-3. They're pandering to the stupid people, and that bugs me.
Yeah, I can't belive they're pulling the ol' George Lucas C-3P0 memory wipe trick. Total bullshit ass bullshit. That and "Mommy, I'm turstee. I need mielk." kinda ruined the episode for me. I guess there was some cool shit going on too.
its funny, ive used back to the future time travel concepts in conversations to explain LOST.
they STOLE MY IDEAS.
also if jack fixed young ben then he never would have become a hostile. way to go jack. sometimes i think the island would be better off had they killed him in the pilot afterall.
finally signing this thing,
ryan.
hi madeline.
It's always Jack's fault, whatever it is and whenever it is, always Jack's fault!
PS: Kate looked Xtra hot in this episode, sorry Madeline, she was a super fox in her business mom suit!

hi Ryan.
also kate looked super skinny this episode, DP. Seriously? She's gotta be way more skinny now.
You know, I hate Kate too, but me and Brandi agreed that she was looking hotter than usual in that pencil skirt.
I'll give kudos to the pencil skirt (pencil skirts are always hot!) but not Kate. Ha.
PS I love saying I'm "off-island"
I'm getting tired of the Temple teases. I want to know what the Hell is going on in there. Is that where Ben learns Ben-fu? That'd be rad. It's not actually a Temple. It's a dojo.
What won't Ben remember? It can't be his whole childhood, because he remembers his father saying, "It's hard to celebrate on the day you killed your mother." Is it the past three years, or just being shot?
Is the fact that Juliet was there in the past the reason that they recruit her in the future? In Season 4, Harper says, "Of course Ben likes you. You look just like her." We're supposed to think that she looks like Annie, but she doesn't. Annie had brown hair. Maybe Juliet looks just like herself, the woman that Ben knew as a child.
Where is Sun? How does she play into this? It seems like Jin has just been brushed aside in the 1977 Dharma initiative.
What an annoying episode. We find out that fatally-shot Ben actually lives, it concentrates an awful amount of time on Kate and Aaron, and we get little/no new information. I appreciate that they're trying to develop Sawyer's character more, but come on, get on with the show.
