Has anyone advanced the theory that Chang's baby from the first episode is Sun? That would explain why Sun and Ben didn't make the jump with everyone else, because they were already on the island circa 1978.
yeah, if you're going to go so far as to lure a kid out into the jungle and shoot him, might as well take the extra time and maker sure he's really dead.
Charles, sometimes love is stronger than ice cream, not often, but sometimes. I like DB's idea about Sun, interesting, it'd take some explaining, but could work. Just to second Cody here, Sayid shot a CHILD! Even if it's Ben! Zoiks, didn't see it coming! I think he shot him near the heart, close enough to a vital organ?
Sun being the baby.. very interesting.. would explain why she didn't come back, although her being prego on the island is the other answer. I think Ben didn't go back because he left by turning the wheel; and they killed Charlotte off, so there's no "meeting yourself" possibilities - the writers did that to save themselves.
How about this theory -
Ben had Sayid kill his child-self on purpose so that Ben would be able to go back to the island.
That episode was DUMB. That interaction between Sawyer and Sayid in the cell was the WORST! Can't Sawyer think of a better way to persuade someone than giving them a surprise punch to the face? Sayid could have blown it for all of them! Plus, Lost has cried wolf about killing too many times, and I didn't even trip when Sayid shot Ben. I just knew he wouldn't die.
The only reason I watch LOST is for the riveting love interests. I'm so glad they take some time out of each episode to make me wonder who Kate, Sawyer, Juliette & Sawyer will finally choose.
Miller, I'm not usually one to EVER point out a mistake (since I of course make too many to count) but you accidentally said Sawyer twice... and for the next 1.5 hours I daydreamt of a world with two Sawyers. Mmmmm. These are the kinds of happy accidents the world needs.
You haters, what more do you want? Sayid shot a child, we can all agree that's good, the Sawyer-Kate -Blondie triangle took up maybe %5 of the episode, good, most importantly THEY DOSED SAYID!!!!!! Acid on a sugarcube! In the 70's! What can you hate about that! Did I mention Sayid, one of the heroes of the program, shot a child in cold blood, after taking acid!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you David Paul. I can't belive I haven't mentioned that yet! Sayid was tripping balls!
Sorry I haven't posted today. Does anyone (other than Madeline) really want me to? I've been real busy at work. Real busy perfecting my Druidic Dwarf character for what's promising to be an excellent game of DnD.
Every time I see a kid get shot in a movie or somesuch I laugh. At first I thought it was a nervous laugh because the situation is so unbelievably uncomfortable, but I think I actually think it's plain funny.
Also Ben as little kid looks like every preteen child star from like ... 1992. Think, made-for-tv adaptation of Superfudge. Or the kid from Alf. Maybe y'all talked about that already.
Also someone ruined the ending for me last night. Via twitter.
Lil' Ben's not dead. You can't change history. Chang's baby is Miles. Dylan called it first episode, and it was confirmed when Miles got the nosebleed after Charlotte because he's been on the island longer than everyone, except her.

wtf daniel faraday. so much for not being able to rewrite time!
oh snap!
...why was old ben dressed like carmen sandiego?
Who cares about that stuff. Remember when Sayid SHOT A CHILD?
Little Ben is not dead. He is lost dead.
Charles
ps. Guess who missed out on a cookies and cream Klondike bar because they where watching Americian Idol? David Paul.
He is a Killer.
Charles
I don't know if shooting a child counts when that child is BEN.
PS Charles, I'm sorry I didn't call you back, I was in a loud, noisy place.
Natalie's house?
Charles
ha! I actually failed on making it there. Sad to say, I was at the Mercantile.
The Merc? On a Wednesday? What a great start to a great weekend.

The place on Ben's body where he got shot by Resident Badass seems to me to be suspiciously devoid of vital organs.

I like Dan's theory, and expanding on that, maybe now that Lil' Ben is dead, Big Ben can and will end up in the 70's.
Or maybe Lil' Ben just isn't dead, or maybe he is dead and the Hostiles will resurrect him.
Was anyone else hoping that Horace was going to cut off Sayid's little toe with the pruners, making him the subject of the statue?
Oh yeah.. so who else thinks it will be revealed that Bernard/Rose/other survivors ended up with the hostiles?
I really want an update on what the heck happened to everyone else.

Oh, yeah, I, uh, meant Sawyer in the 70's & Sawyer in the present.

I didn't even harass you about posting at all. For the RECORD.
Maybe I'll put up a pic of young ben's shot down body.
The Sayid acid scene was the only good scene of last night. And I'm easy to please. That episode just never got started.
